Storyboard

A storyboard is a visual plan for a scene, drawn frame by frame like a comic, showing framing, composition, character positions, and camera movement. Storyboards help departments understand a director's intent quickly.

Independent productions usually board selected sequences — action, effects, complex camera moves — and rely on a shot list elsewhere. See storyboards and shot lists for independent directors.
