Location Scout
A location scout searches for and evaluates places to film. The word refers both to the activity and to the person (often working under a location manager) who does it.
A thorough scout documents more than appearance: photos from likely camera positions, sun path and time-of-day light, ambient sound, power and vehicle access, parking, facilities, and cell coverage. Those details decide whether a beautiful place is actually shootable.
After scouting, chosen locations require a signed location release and any necessary permits. See scouting locations in Nevada for a practical guide, and browse our locations directory for starting points.
