Color Grading

Color grading gives a film its final visual character. A colorist adjusts exposure, contrast, color balance, and saturation to match shots within a scene and to create the intended mood — warm and nostalgic, cold and clinical, bleached and harsh.

Grading usually happens after picture lock, working from references the director and cinematographer established, often including the project's lookbook.
