Blocking
Blocking is the choreography of a scene: where actors stand, when they move, and how they relate to each other and the camera. Directors often block with actors on set, then adjust the shot list to the staging that works best.
Good blocking reveals relationships and power without dialogue — who moves toward whom, who stays still, who controls the space. See storyboards and shot lists for how it fits into planning.
