Sales Agent

A sales agent represents an independent film to distributors around the world, licensing rights territory by territory. Sales agents position the film, take it to industry markets and festivals, negotiate license deals, manage delivery of materials, and collect and report revenue to the producers.

Attached early, a sales agent can make pre-sales possible — licenses sold before the film is made, often backed by a minimum guarantee. That's why sales estimates sit at the center of many independent financing plans.
